about

This is a manic recap and compilation shout-out to some of what made 2015 (and 2014 for that matter) an especially ill time in Cincy. Many of the places mentioned, and music sampled, have come and/or gone within this same year, but their inspiration resonates on. The end of this track is an abridged wishlist for our future; just a few prompts said out loud in addition to the endless ideas and goals we collectively harbor every day. It wouldn't be possible to create a properly comprehensive thanx list regarding a year like 2015, but it's meant for everyone who put forth constructive energy and legit support for something they were an active component of but way bigger than themselves alone. If you're not from Cincinnati and haven't seen our monthly calendar, look it up. www.facebook.com/groups/cincydiy/

Track Name: Cincinnati DIY 2015
Ten years after I wrote The Shit Punx Hate for Realicide much has changed and for the better in my hometown. People may try to dis on now with trumped up delusions of yesteryear but I'm not the only one who knows things are way fucking better for Cincinnati, punk, DIY, and community than a decade or two ago. To quote Divtech "you can keep the past, the future is mine!" Thanx everybody.

to Last House on the left
punk by donation and yeah fuck bar culture
to a decidedly non-commercial contingent
comprising our monthly DIY calendar
to handmade Fickle skateboards
and ramp ragers not for competition
to punx blasting hiphop
at Tacocracy no age restriction

Cincinnati DIY culture defined by what we do
our community can only be what we make it into

to Cincinnati HxC kids
at deathrock shows in drag and makeup
to xerox zines of resistance
like The Big P and Don't Talk To Cops
to Soapbox Books and Food Not Bombs
and radicals emerging from the straight edge scene
towards anarchy for a better world
around Cide Central 2015

Cincinnati DIY culture defined by what we do
our community can only be what we make it into
