Similar to Staz reviving old BTB songs, I wrote this around 2001 when I was 19, barking over chopped up Subhumans samples, later performing it in a variety of incarnations via Realicide, this one even includes bits from the last version produced by Mavis in 2010. So, if you really need its words, just go find one of the thousands of Realicide lyrix posters distributed on tour all those years!
This song is a warning, about a common succumbing to defaults based on how we are raised by our parents. Even for the confident among us, vehemently claiming determination to evade the gravity of damning inherited behaviors. Breaking the chain is usually not easy, and does not happen without persistent focus of will. Like most things worthwhile, it entails work, but for me the reward has been spending adulthood with friends, not restricted by unwanted occupations, or confined within the struggling fishbowl I was born into. It's about creative and collaborative solutions around the obstacles of programmed convention, wielding whatever few resources may be available, the basis of punk, hiphop, and any subculture I owe this bizarre grown-up life to.
